5x5x5 Eastsheen Cube

4.4 cm / 1.7 inch edge

This is a transformation of an Eastsheen 5x5x5. All the edges and corners have been cut down. Each of the six 3x3 centres are then built up like pyramids. The transformation is symmetrical so it doesn't change shape. Each piece was transformed by hand using high impact polystyrene plastic. This makes it nice and light.
The puzzle is 100 % fully functional since it has five layers of rotation in each dimension. Some people expect it to have seven layers of rotation since it looks as if it should. That would actually be additional functionality (140%).
I am very pleased with the quality and it has a nice smooth rotational movement. I have used Rubik's Cube style stickers on it's 12 rhombic faces.
This puzzle is occasionally available on eBay. Alternatively there is a mass produced 4x4x4 version. See below for more information.
