I have always liked this shape and had been toying with the idea for a few years. I like the fact that from one angle it looks circular but from another almost square. Making puzzles with curved surfaces is never easy though. I first sculpted the three masters by hand out of polyester resin and then used remeltable rubber (Gelflex) moulds and polyester resin again to cast the pieces. No rapid prototyping was used and I didn't even have a Dremel in those days.
For the stickers I used nine colours. They are standard Rubik's Cube style. My big problem was making them stay on the puzzle. Because of the curved surface even when super glued they still tend to curl up at the corners. Rotational movement is ok though not as smooth as some of my previous Skewb transformations. I do like this puzzle and the shape was a new achievement for me.
